Belly Dance


The belly dance is a dance originally committed in various parts of the Middle East and South Asia. Of primitive origin, dated between 7000 and 5000 BC, its allied movements to music and sinuous like a snake, were recorded in ancient Egypt, Babylon, Mesopotamia, India, Persia and Greece, and were intended to prepare women through religious rites dedicated to the goddesses, to become mothers. Due to the Arab invasion, the dance spread around the world. The term belly dance originated in France in 1893. In the East is known by the Arabic name raqs sharqi (رقص شرقي literally "oriental dance") or raqs baladi (رقص بلدي literally "dance of the country," and, by extension, "folk dance"), or the term Turkish çiftetelli (or τσιφτετέλι in Greek).

It consists of a series of movements vibration, impact, ripples and turns involving the body as a whole. Currently won sensual exotic aspects, being excluded from some Arab countries of conservative attitude.
